A
brief
description
of
Emergences
Emergences
is a professional institute founded in 1985
to support social and union activities by creating
three complementary areas of expertise
:
1)
Consulting and
research,
international activities
Emergences
carries out socio-economic studies that focus
on employment
issues. These studies look into questions
such as
professional retraining, skills validation and
reintegration as
well as local and regional economic
development. Using
this experience alongside its two
other activities -
training and expertise -
Emergences
has been working
since 1992 to develop an international
activity.
Emergences
is involved as either a leader
or a
partner in a number of european projects.
These projects are
mainly carried out through European
Commission
programmes: DG Employment and Social
Affairs, FSE - EQUAL, Leonardo Da Vinci and Socrates.
Emergences
is also developing Technical Support
projects with
various countries in Central and Eastern
Europe, the former
USSR and the Mediterranean region
(Phare, Tacis and Meda programmes).
Areas of
involvement
As part of its international activities,
Emergences
is involved with issues such
as working conditions, professional
equality, fighting against discriminations,
working hours, training for employees
and workers representatives, labour law,
social dialogue and collective bargaining,
environmental management, etc.
Our parters
Our partnerships mostly involve union
organisations (or their research and
training institutes) in the European
Union, Central and Eastern Europe,
the former USSR, the Maghreb and
Latin America.
Our achievements
Many of our projects have led to the
development of resources likely to be of
direct interest to worker representatives
in Europe: a joint book on working time
reduction, a brochure on the prevention
of professional risk, training modules on
labour regulations, equality between
men and women, management of
environmental risk, multimedia and
video resources regarding professional
equality, a game about social Europe,
various CD-Roms about the environment,
employee representatives, the public
services and chemical risk. Lastly, other
projects have led to advances in
employee rights in beneficiary countries
:
in Russia, an arbitration court has been
set up, to settle the labour conflicts…
2) Expertise
Emergences
is now the French institute
approved by the Ministry for
Employment and Solidarity, as it has
the broadest experience in the field of

Emergences

professional risk and improving working
conditions. Within this field,
Emergences
has completed over
400

of economic sectors: metallurgy, building,
